Supporting Looked After Children
Some children are looked after either on a permanent basis or as a temporary arrangement.
In these circumstances the local authority, Suffolk County Council, will assign a case worker for the child.
The case worker and the school will work together with the appointed carers to support the child in the following ways:
1. Regular review meetings, looking at 'the big picture' of how the child is being supported both by the school and by the carers
2. Regular reviews of their progress as school, through the creation and regular updating of a Pupil Education Plan (P.E.P)
If a Looked After Child (LAC) also has additional needs, such as SEN, then they will automatically be supported for these as would any other child - please see the other pages under the 'Supporting Children' tab for further information.
If you would like more information about how Suffolk Local Authority operate their procedures for Looked After Children, please visit the county's main website for further details.
