Combs Ford Primary School

School Council

Combs Ford Primary School Council 2022-2023

At the start of the school year, each class elects a school council representative to attend regular meetings, giving the children a voice in making decisions for the school.

As the School Council, we look after the school's environment and make everyone in the school happy. Our duty as a School Council is to make decisions and make the school a better place. Each class votes for their representative; this year, we have 14 reps and 10 deputies. We meet once every two weeks for about half an hour.

Even though we have only been working together for a few months we have already made some changes: we have chosen new badges for the reps to wear and we have been involved in choosing prizes for the new behaviour policy. Last year the School Council suggested new designs for the playground and replaced some of the benches with brightly coloured rainbow ones!

Litter Around the School

This year, we have focused on our school grounds and, in particular, the rubbish that is spoiling the environment. We did a litter-pick around the playground and collected a lot of food wrappers, some broken PE equipment and even an old computer casing! We are hoping to set up a team of #LitterHeroes to do regular litter-picks with one of our governors.

Mrs O'Dell from the Energy from Waste Facility at Great Blakenham joined one of our School Council meetings to talk to us about what happens to our rubbish and we have planned for her to come back soon to talk to all of Key Stage 2 about recycling. You can read more about what they do on the SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK.

Here are just a few of our eye-catching posters that we have designed to remind everyone to look after our school ground (and the planet) by disposing of rubbish properly:
